SHAMUS DARK:
Live jazz in the UK with:
Rick Laughlin – piano and keyboards
Sean Freeman – saxophone
Nick Pugh – bass

Here’s a new demo recording of a wonderful old song, written in the 1930’s by Hoagy Carmichael and Ned Washington. Accompanied by a trio of some of this country’s finest jazz musicians, Shamus will be performing material from the great American songbook live throughout the UK in 2011. Songs will include up-tempo swing from the pen of Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, et al, plus of course, a liberal sprinkling of great romantic ballads from the likes of Matt Dennis, Harold Arlen and others. This will be the second full album collaboration between Shamus and producer Pete Millward. Songs include Cole Porter’s Night And Day, Elvis Costello’s Almost Blue, Joy Division’s New Dawn Fades and a host of noir classics. Special mention should be made of Jens Bunge who has already recorded a stunning harmonica part to The Moon Was Yellow. Many of the tracks are near completion and we hope that the album will be available to buy soon.
