...think Massive Attack meets Scott Walker... Watching this performance is like watching a character step out of an old film only to find themselves in modern day London. It is very odd but utterly compelling. It could easily be very, very good and it quite possibly is.

Shamus Dark: Wed Feb 20 Roxy Bar And Screen, 128-132 Borough High Street, SE1 1LB

Queasy listening from this self-styled mysterious character, premiering songs from his cheerily titled new album 'Songs For Suicidal Lovers' – don't forget your prozac.

Time Out Magazine, London

Oct 2006October 2007

"...the album begins with a predictably atmospheric slow-paced burner, Angel Eyes, with its cool lead guitar and understated vocal. This is quickly followed by a series of laid-back, jazz -inflected songs, of which The Party's Over is a stand out with its Massive Attack-style string touches. Want to escape the humdrum of everyday life? Check out Shamus, he's definitely worth investigating." full text

"...a perfect soundtrack to a rainy, stormy day meant for you to stay indoors enjoying the cool of the muffled raindrops behind closed windows... while you sit in a long chair leaning back, eyes half closed, cigarette in one hand and a hard stiff drink in the other." full text

Hi Shamus,

I have to tell you that I think the CD sleeve for SONGS FOR SUICIDAL LOVERS is one of the best of the year. It really had me fooled at first. I then admired it ... and enjoyed it immensely.

"...Shamus Dark, which is about the most awesome name for anything. Ever. He’s a singer, but I’m not going to try and categorize him. You’ll just have to look and see for yourself. Check out the off-beat sense of humor he has... I love it."
